Enyimba assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has expressed satisfaction with the team’s steady improvement following their impressive run of form in the Nigeria Premier Football League ,NPFL. The nine-time NPFL champions secured their second consecutive victory on Sunday, defeating 10-man Plateau United 2-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. The result extended Enyimba’s unbeaten run to three league matches and lifted the Aba-based side out of the relegation zone.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele opened the scoring for the hosts shortly before the half-hour mark, while Richard Ezinwa doubled Enyimba’s advantage in the 66th minute. Ukaegbu believes the People’s Elephant are gradually returning to their best , and have regained the competitive edge that has characterised the club in recent years. “We have returned to our best form, and I can assure you of this.
Our success has been built on consistency and the players’ commitment to working as one unit,” Ukaegbu told journalists after the match. “The players have now developed a comprehensive understanding of the expectations we have established for them. This understanding accounts for the remarkable resurgence you have observed.” Enyimba will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to face Katsina United in their next NPFL fixture.
