The pressure is steadily mounting for Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut following a troubling start to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season. The Solid Miners find themselves languishing in the lower rungs of the league table, sparking urgent calls for reflection and tactical redirection from the technical crew. The breaking point came following a hard-fought 2-1 defeat away to Kwara United.
The loss left Nasarawa United grappling with a precarious 16th position on the league standings, having managed a meager four points from their opening matches. Speaking candidly after the encounter, Mangut made no effort to conceal his dissatisfaction with the team’s current trajectory. “If you look at the Log, it’s really something to get worried of,” Mangut admitted.
He acknowledged that lingering near the relegation zone so early in the season threatens player confidence and disrupts the long-term ambitions of the club. For Mangut and his squad, the immediate task is clear, find consistency quickly, string together positive results, and pull the club out of the early-season danger zone.
