Mamman Bitrus Giwa, Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, has been honoured as the 2025 Best Crime-Busting Police Chief in West Africa, while Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), received the Best Police Public Relations Officer in Nigeria award. The awards were presented by the Security Watch Africa Initiative at the Enugu State Police Command Headquarters in Enugu.
Presenting the awards, Patrick Agbambu, the International Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the Initiative, said CP Giwa and SP Ndukwe were selected following a review of their policing records, professional achievements and contributions to security and public relations in Enugu State. Agbambu commended CP Giwa for his proactive approach to crime prevention and combating criminal activities, urging him to sustain the tempo in the fight against crime.
He also praised SP Ndukwe for what he described as strategic and effective police-public relations activities, encouraging him to maintain the standard. Responding, Giwa expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition, attributing his achievements in Enugu to Almighty God and the support of the Enugu State Government, law-abiding citizens and other stakeholders.
He said the award was a reflection of the collective efforts of officers and men of the Command and the cooperation of residents in supporting security operations across the state. Similarly, SP Ndukwe thanked the Security Watch Africa Initiative for the honour, dedicating the award to Almighty God, CP Giwa and the people of Enugu State for their continued support and cooperation.
The awards formed part of activities marking the 19th Africa Security Watch Awards, following the 19th Africa Security Watch Conference held in July 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre, Banjul, The Gambia.
