Fulham defender Calvin Bassey says his side are ready for a tough challenge as they prepare to face Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. The Cottagers head to Merseyside looking to bounce back after a 1-0 loss to Sunderland last weekend, while Liverpool are unbeaten in the league this season. It has been a difficult start for Fulham.
Not only have they lost each of their first three top-flight games, but they have also lost in different ways, failing to outscore Chelsea and Palace at home, and unable to breach a steadfast Sunderland defence in the 1-0 reverse. The Super Eagles star has started every Premier League game this season and has become a key part of Fulham’s backline.
Speaking to the club’s website, Bassey said the team will need to be at their best to get a result against Liverpool. The Nigeria international also emphasized the need to maintain unity and adhere closely to the manager’s instructions. “It’s not going to be easy,”Bassey told the club’s website. “You know what’s coming when you play Liverpool; they have top players.
It’s just about doing our homework and seeing how we can hurt them. “We talk with the manager about everything that might not have worked, and try and go into every game understanding more what he wants from us individually as players. “He’ll set us up in the right way to tackle Liverpool.”
