Portuguese club Alverca has expressed immense pride following the maiden international call-up of their standout player, Isaac James, to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The three-time African champions are gearing up for crucial fixtures, scheduled to host Madagascar on September 25 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo before taking on Guinea-Bissau four days later.
James earned the nod from the national selection panel on the back of an impressive run of form with his club, having cemented a regular spot by starting six matches in the ongoing 2026/2027 campaign. Reacting to the milestone via their official social media channels, Alverca celebrated the defender’s historic achievement. “Isaac James was convocado for the first time to represent the Nigerian National Team 🇳🇬.
“Our athlete was selected for the matches in the Qualifying Phase for the CAN 2027,” the club proudly announced. The recognition underscores the growing impact of Nigerian talent across European leagues as the Super Eagles assemble a formidable squad for their upcoming continental assignments.
