Arsenal have accelerated their checks on Ibrahim Maza, with the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder emerging as one of the more intriguing young names on the market ahead of a potential future move. According to TeamTalk (via Yahoo Sports) Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both intensified their interest in the 20-year-old, while several other Premier League clubs continue to monitor his progress closely.
The report states that Arsenal and Spurs have “both watched Maza this season” as they weigh up his development and consider whether a formal move could become viable. Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa are also said to remain attentive, a sign of how quickly the player’s standing has risen.
Maza is described as “one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young attacking midfielders”, and there is little surprise that Arsenal’s recruitment team are paying close attention. His profile appears to fit the modern attacking midfielder mould, technically clean, positionally smart and capable of operating in multiple advanced roles. He is said to look “particularly comfortable finding pockets of space in the half-spaces, where he can receive possession, turn and drive at defenders”. For a side like Arsenal, who place major value on players able to manipulate tight areas and progress attacks between the lines, that detail matters. There is further encouragement in the assessment of his game intelligence.
The source notes “an intelligence to Maza’s game, with his awareness and reading of situations allowing him to find space and link play in dangerous areas”. Those are attributes Arsenal tend to value highly when projecting younger players into elite-level systems.
